A new attitude

I’d say atitude is essential. If you don’t have skill, you can at least run. If you have skil and no atitude, you can’t do anything with it…

And, after reading the article, and more and more affraid of Iran and Angola… They will be extremelly dangerous!

No matter what sport your playing, or who you are, if you don’t go into the competition fully believing you can win, your dead. Especially at this, the highest level and with the most pressure.

Like Pedro said, atitude is the key. We haven’t had a long history of winning at tis level so we must use the last EC as a confidence builder and believe in Scolari’s approach and hopefully start getting that winning atitude.

The Germans are probably the best example of a very successful team who rarely have the talent and skill of their oppositions. But what they have never lacked was discipline, confidence and team cohesion. They never stopped believing they can win, even in this WC and look how much they’ve won.

I just thought of a comment I heard on TV watching the FA Cup final shoot-out. The commentator said “you always start the penalty kicks with a German, because they never miss!” and that says it all. Confidence, the atitude that I can and will win no matter what.

Our Canadian hockey teams and players haven’t always been better than the Russians or Swede’s but what we always always had was the confidence that in the end we would do whatever it took to win.

That is the mental atitiude our NT needs to learn and make second nature. I think that the large number of players we now have playing abroad is helping them to get that atitude. Being on winning teams, playing with other players who have the atitude etc…

Good news that Felipao “the truth” Scolari is liking the attitude. With all the attitude and chemistry posts in last few blogs it’s good the NT is in positive frame of mind.

I still recall an very interesting analogy from Scolari early in his tenure as coach, “It’s like marrying a beautiful women and then waking up the next morning and seeing she is ugly”

Attitude of players and coaches is key! The recent photos and interviews I’ve seen of the training camp make me very hopeful. They all look very relaxed and calm yet fully focused and aware of the rigor the occassion calls for. Scolari will give it his all to defend his title.

I think this team has a date with destiny. Time may prove me wrong, but I remain very hopeful. Even if they don’t win, I know they will make us proud! Forca Portugal!

Let’s hope this attitude is not of the variety of the one the Under 21 team displayed prior to the beginning of their regretful campaign.

SColari is trying to get the country behind him by showing that the team is feeling good.. it’s a smart move.. however it’s all fluff. Today we’ll see the truth and what the attitude talk is really about as the Tugas play Cabo Verde.

End of first half

I know it’s just a friendly and certainly not supposed to be a perfect game, but it’s obvious we still have things to improve. The timing and circulation play is off and PT isn’t playing very well off the ball. They leave too many spaces open and don’t seem to have the pace and flow that we all know they are capable of. Like Gomes says, time to stop with the fluff and work out the details. We all know what this team can do when they play at their potential. We put our faith in Scolari and the will of our players. Forca Portugal!

It turns out that he considers his first priority and responsibility to be the training and preparation of athletes for eventual seniors duty and not necessarily to win titles. No wonder! Now it all makes sense. Someone should tell this moron that the best way to prepare a player for seniors duty is to make them winners…to show them how to deliver results with careful planning and then lethal execution when it matters most – during a tourny or final. PT won’t get very far as long as we have coaches at the helm like this. We can do better. Hopefully our WC players are watching and learning from the U21 tourney. Força Scolari! Força Portugal!
