A new Neo on Portuguese pitch.
Portugal’s dazzler Cristiano Ronaldo is working on new tricks to wow World Cup audiences next month.
The Portuguese star joked that fans will be left wondering if he is on strings like actor Keanu Reeves’ fight scenes in the blockbuster Matrix films.
But the Manchester United star, 21, insists he has learned when to exhibit his Hollywood showpieces instead of driving team-mates mad by holding the ball too long.
He said: “I work hard on my tricks and skills and it’s something I try to do in every training session.
“I’m always trying to improve and I want to be at top form in the World Cup. Have I prepared new tricks? Something like out of the Matrix maybe?
“Well, all I want is to be fine physically. But it is important to have tricks that can help me deliver a cross for a goal.
“Obviously that’s something I work on in training, to try to perfect my movements and feints. But they’re pointless unless they help the team.”

Lets hope he shows some real maturity. He can talk the talk. Lets see if he can walk the walk. The Cabo Verde game showed that his rediculous behaviours are just below the surface. One stupid move like that, could cost us the title.

Agreed w Luis.
The game against Cabo Verde may go a long way as far as warm-up game is concerned. It gave the team a chance to play together, physically very difficult in heat, and maybe will refocus C. Ronaldo to keep his cool. Scolari subbed him immediately after the incident, which was good.
C. Ronaldo’s maturity and team game has also improved greatly being at ManU, kudos to Sir Alex Ferguson for his developement, just hope it doesn’t forget it when he sports the NT colours.
If Ronaldo can mix it up between individual burns and passing it out, then look out!!!!

I watched the game but I missed that incident. What exactly did he do? I know he definately wasn’t at his best..but neither was the whole team. I’d like to think it was the ridiculously hot weather, but if we can still win 4-1, let’s hope we can step up even more in ideal conditions…

He took a standing half swipe at some guy, it wasn’t particularly vicious or anything, but he wasn’t playing the ball and it is a friendly. He seemed to get frustrated and lost his cool for a bit. The announcers made it seem really really bad (unsportsman, unprofessional, in a friendly, how would Portugal like it if Cabo Verde had swiped Ronaldo in a friendly etc), while I just thought it was bad.
As mentioned Scolari quickly subbed him and hopefully had a talking to him….all and all good I think, get this type of thing shored up before the big dance.

this is exactly whats wrong with soccer/football these days. we are focusing more on the dribbling and the cool moves these players are doing more than their actual playing ability. What good is it if you can dribble the ball 200 times on ur ass if you cant do the bare essential and pass (not saying ronaldo can’t pass). These players are shovanistic and only care about furthering their own careers. They don’t care about the team. Look at the best player in the world (Ronaldinho). just about anyone can see what he can do (tricks, dribbles etc). The difference is he knows when to do things and when to just KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). so my inspiring word of wisdom is KISS.
What do you guys think? and who is the best team player in the world? Portugal team?
