Beto Gives Bordeaux a Go

Portugal defender Beto is leaving Sporting Lisbon to play for Bordeaux in France’s Ligue 1. Beto has been with Sporting Lisbon since 1996 so this is an interesting move.

Beto, who was a big part of the squad that made the Euro 2004 finals and was on Portugal’s roster in the 2002 World Cup, said he is making the move because he wanted the proverbial “new challenge.”

Another new challenge he might want to consider is helping Portugal get out of the first round of the World Cup this summer.
