Big Phil Backtracks on England Talk

February 8th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | No Comments »

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari says that his desire to learn English is not necessarily because he wants to become England’s next coach, but rather because he wants to become a “more educated person.”

Oh how things can change in just a matter of days.

Earlier in the week Big Phil threw his hat into that circus of a ring known as the competition to replace Sven-Goran Eriksson as England’s manager. Now Scolari is taking a step back by emphasizing that he hasn’t talked with the FA in any language and that he is very happy in Portugal.

Methinks that Big Phil might have heard a few unpleasant comments from folks in Portugal who are probably not to happy that their coach is coaching with one eye on the pitch and the other on the British isle.
