Daily roundup 6-14
A review of today’s headlines (all links in portuguese):
Ronaldo feeling the fatigue
Ronaldo performed a light workout today. He ran for about 15 minutes and tried to preserve his tired legs. Scolari is a bit concerned about his current condition and decided to give him some time to rest.
Boa Morte is keeping it real
Luis Boa Morte isn’t concerned about not getting a chance to strut his stuff. “We’re focused on one game at a time. There are no easy teams as Angola proved,” said the Fulham captain. “Scolari hasn’t said that I would or wouldn’t get a chance to play, but that’s not important. I’m here to help the team and available if I get the call. We’re all rowing in the same direction.”
Costinha dreams big and gives Scolari his support
Costinha didn’t start against Angola but he’s not bothered. “I’m here to do my best when called upon. Scolari doesn’t have to explain anything to me. I dream of being world champion, but it won’t be easy. All the teams in this competition are very strong,” the Portuguese midfielder stated.
Costinha went on to comment on the state of the national team and Big Phil’s influence. “I admire Scolari for his abilities as a coach and for his dedication to his ideas and principles. If he leaves, I suspect that Portugal will take ten steps back not just one. The clubs no longer control the national team and that can only help this group of players in the future,” he declared.
Deco ready for Iran
Deco seems to be on course to play this weekend against Iran. The star midfielder practiced today without any limitation. He completed some additional physical therapy and was able to kick the ball around with both feet.
