The problem with this guy is that he’s usually not in form and that he misses too many goals. He’s very mobile and also plays ball. He’s quite good when he plays with another striker, a less mobile and truelly “box-man”.
With PT that’s not the case, for reasons we’ve analyzed ad nauseum… BUT if, just if, when the system needs changing at a given momment, we can expect that a 2 striker front might actually yield something…

Considering PT will very likelly play in 4-2-3-1, like in Germany, and not in pure 4-3-3, this change can arguably be facilitated. Deco out, 2 mids stay, Gomes in (I believe Almeida will be in the starting 11), 2 wingers playing no mattter who.

The 4-3-3 is definitely the way to play. But it won’t happen. Gomes is a bench player. My guess is that Almeida will start. BTW where’s Makakula again?
