It’s Holland
With both teams already in the second round, the Argentina vs. Holland match was purely for bragging rights. We saw some nice runs from Argentina, but Holland proved it’s defense was up to the task. Just like Portugal, everyone was resting their starters or yellow cards, but I was just glad to see these two teams go at it for 90′ . Hope Holland is tired. Just kidding Holland. Nice job by both teams.

This was just a horrible match. Although I knew from the start we would not defeat Portugal I had my hopes of course. Boularouz earned a red card for such an action, that wasn’t football at all!! Take out your enemy with football, not with force.. I deeply regret the action he took and I dont support this kind of football.
What happend after is simple. Portugal and Holland are both teams with easy triggered emotions, we kick you, you kick us and so on and so on. Pointing your fingers to Holland or Portugal means you support there kind of football. It happend, so don’t take this game of the field and say Holland started. We are not saying Portugal started. I think with this game Holland doesn’t even deserve to continue in the WC and they really should question what actions should be taken after this game to make sure this never happens again ever.
Marco, I am very dissapointed in this game!!! How could you let Holland do something like this.
Well deserved to win Portugal, good luck in the next rounds!
For the referee I don’t have any words, adding 6 minutes is not gonna pull it and he certainly shouldn’t give any cards for things he can’t see. He’s not welcome in Holland ever… and if he is a smart guy he wont fly over here hahahahaha

One last add… Figo.. a player like you shouldn’t be playing dirty tricks, you don’t need that! Little kids look up to you.. Shame on you!

Figo was standing up to blatant the Dutch’s desperate to win at any cost unsportsmanlike play. We didn’t injure any of your players.
YOU TARGETED RONALDO. SHAME ON THE HOLLAND TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shame on you referee !
The Potugal win was deserved and referees must understand they are not players.
This time justice was made.

forca portugal!!!!!. yeah the ref. was horrible and the game was physical on both ends. obviosly the team who scores will win, which means holland didnt win because they didnt score. so stop talking about how it was unfair. you dont score, you dont win. PORTUGAlll E MAYORR. and that one play when holland should have kicked it to the portuguese. all i have to say is jerks. arrogant sons of a bitch. im proud of DECO.. maniche= awesome game along with Miguel

oh and whomever said portugal played dirty and is the dirties in the league, you need to learn about soccer. Portugal has one of the most skillful, talented players in the league, and this is a side we’ve never seen of portugal. They had hunger, passion, and all they wanted was the ball. Of course, their was dirty play, but who were the bad sports in the end? hmm. who started the fights? who punched figo, pushed petit, swung deco, who said f*** you to Carvalho and Ricardo. O Pa, estes loucos. Holland were the ones who started the dirty play. Yes im portuguese, but in the perspective of a player i say that the calls were unfair on both sides, but some calls were necessary.

Someone PLEASE tell Ronaldo to stop crying so much..everytime he does his mascara runs…at least get the waterproof kind!

Why should he stop crying?
He’s got passion.
But you’re right,
he should use waterproof mascara.
Where in Canada are you Nikki?

Portugal-England, This Portuguese team is the strongest and tightest team I have ever known. Luiz Filipe Scolari has made a TEAM, he’s managed to unite com[plicated characters into a tight unit that kept it’s head even when facing the scandalous un-fairplay attitude of Holland. I believe thatb portugal now has what it takes to go all the way, beat England and they’ll face France (who i am sure will take out Brazil). Facing the French will not be a problem, our small but rapid players will turn circles around these heavies. VIVA PORTUGAL, you are going all the way

I’m in Oakville…I guess ure going for Portugal????
FORZA ITALIA! FORZA ITALIA! FORZA ITALIA!

At first I was willing to believe that Portugal played dirty against Holland because the Dutch are not saints themselves. However, after watching Portugal-England the same dirty tricks happened again. Is it a coincidence that this happens everytime Portugal plays? When Ronaldo winked to his teammates after Rooney received the red card it became clear to me that Portugal is becoming an unpopular team for a lot of people. Hopefully Ronaldo will leave England because he will not be welcome there.

Hey Nikki,
Yes…Going for Portugal.
One minute you’re for Holland,
now you’re for Italy???

TO John and Jack:
It is plain simple. The reason that Ronaldo Winked is because he told Carvalho to fall right under and in between Rooneys legs and to position his crotch so that Rooney would step on it.
And Ronaldo Told Rooney to PUSH him right in front of the Referee.
And then Ronaldo also paid the Referee 5 euros to give Rooney a red card.
Guys. that’s the reason why he winked.

Ah yes…the “wink” conspiracy.
At first it was going to be smoke signals.
But the wink proved subtler.
I guess not subtle enough.

So the headbutt of Figo and the wink of Ronaldo means nothing? READ carefully, I never said that Ronaldo was responsible for the red card! You are putting words in my mouth I never said! Besides, I have read many stories now from different people in the media who all had negative comments about the way Portugal behaves. It has nothing to do with sore losers. Portugal has great players, it is just the attitude that sucks. Ronaldo already had such a negative reputation for a long time.

Everyone dives, everyone fakes injury,
everyone tries to persuade the ref.
Everyone commits fouls.
Portugal doesn’t do it more than anyone else.
Find some statistics over the last 4 years that
says we’ve had more yellows or reds than
the rest of the Big Teams. You won’t.
You’ll only prove my point that they play aggressive not dirty.
You have to remember we beat Holland and England in Euro2004. Those teams were desperate to beat us. France wil be the same.
These teams think they should be in the finals based on their history. Bullshit.
Time has come for a new World Cup winner.

And Ronaldo is in the wrong league.
He plays a beautiful style of football in stark
contrast to “English football.”
Put a Rooney in the portuguese league,
and he’d stick out like a sore thumb and
probably get into his fair share of trouble.

Too bad the replays of the game against France showed again the diving theatrics of many players of Portugal. It is true that many players dive and act but Portugal has clearly reached a level that tops everybody else. Don’t get me wrong, Ronaldo is a very good player but even the referee started to ignore his acting. I think too that it is too bad that Figo again will not win a euro or worldcup title. He is the best Portugal has produced since Eusebio. However, if you guys continue to believe there is nothing wrong with how the Portugese players behave, than I think you are just in denial and it is pointless for me to argue with you about it. To you, a headbutt is perhaps just being aggressive. I call it dirty. Portugal has a negative reputation in respect to diving, acting and provocations, whether you like it or not.

LOL…..no…I was just for Netherlands to beat Portugal that day..too bad that didn’t happen, but YEAH of course I’m for ITALIA…I’m half Italian after all…oh, and by the way…my OTHER half is the team who beat Portugal in the EURO 2004

Hey John,
If the final of the world cup showed the world
anything, its that the Italians and French are divers, actors and prone to aggression.
HELLOOO!!!! ZIZOU!!!!!!
So get off your pulpit and stop pointing the finger. That World Cup final, from the penalty
on, showed that everyone plays the same soccer. Actually, they’re worse.
Portugal gets the last laugh on stupid people
who watch two games of soccer every four years, and think they know everything.
Guess what, you know shit.

Jack just showed his ignorance in his last post. His Team played the whole tournament dirty. They collected the most yellow cards and red cards than any other team. The whole world watched as his fellow porkchops forgot that they were playing soccer, and thought that they were trying out for the national diving team. But, as a typical Portuguese person, he tries to deflect attention from this by pointing his finger to two countries who deservingly made it to the finals.
It’s the typical saying for John, if we win, it’s all skill, but if we lose, it’s because they were lucky and cheated. Poor Guy. He should seek some medical attention.
