Looking ahead – Euro 2008

July 12th, 2006 | By: Luis | 13 Comments »

While the boys are working on their tans, I thought we should take a little time to talk about the upcoming Euro qualification matches. Portugal finds itself in Group A with Belgium, Finland, Poland, Serbia and Montenegro, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Kazakhstan. Belgium, S & M, and Poland will probably be the toughest, but with the additional travel time to the former Soviet republics and subsequent fatigue, it wouldn’t surprise me if one of the minnows of this group pulled off a dramatic upset. I have no idea what UEFA will do with S & M now that they have dissolved their union.

Group A

Azerbaijan
Armenia
Belgium
Finland
Kazakhstan
Poland
Portugal
Serbia and Montenegro

I heard a rumor that if Greece does get suspended Portugal will move into Greeces spot because they were the runners up and Euro 2004 and Greece is in the Champions spot. It would also mean all groups have 7 teams instead of Group A having 8 and Group B having 6
