I liked watching postiga play and he made his presence felt more than nuno gomes. personally, i think starting postiga and subbing in NG for some impact later is the best choice but i’m sure scolari has his own tricks planned

Exactly, plus if we had been outplayed maybe it might effect morale. But we were the better team on the day but just didn’t get the breaks.
Look at the Germans with 2 possible injuries. That’s a big risk to take. I’m shocked the dutch played who they did. So now they have Italy to possibly meet again in the semi’s?? I’ll laugh if they do meet Italy and loose to them. That would be poetic justice…

I’d say that B-Side loss has no effect on morale. Those guys are on the bench for the most part anyways.

Read what greg said. Portugal has amazing depth, but no country in this tournament can field an entire bench team that never plays together and expect success. Players such as nani, quaresma, postiga and miguel would be even better slotted in with players such as ronaldo and deco.

IMO the ball went to nani way too many times and he did little with it. Quaresma had some beautiful crosses and should have seen the ball more. If I see the “Nani face” of outrageone more time I swear im going to throw my Superbock at the goddamn tv.

It’s nice that we rested players and hopefully we’ll see an improved Portugal as a result. However, there is a part of me that wishes that they would have played this game with their starters too. This is the national team and they don’t get a whole lot of time together at any one time to absolutely gel as they do in club play. These tournaments are won by building momentum and improving quality play as you get into the later stages.

To me, this personnel swap only breaks the progress of the great play that we saw during the first two matches. I hope that I’m wrong?

On a side note, Nani may be a really good footballer at the moment but he is also a huge pussy when it comes to challenges. We need less whining theatrics and more testicles from him. Also, this whole Scolari/Chelsea & Ronoldo/ManU-Real thing is really starting to bum me out. At first I didn’t think that the timing was that big of a deal, but now I think that it has to be affecting them mentally if even just a little. Instead of focusing on the matches they’re answering personal questions. That must have an impact.

Enough said!
