how many porto players playing for portugal?

Big phil is all but hype. Portugal have great talent and can win anything if they give it 110% and consistantly keep up to it. Big phill needs to get replaced by Mourinho.

In spite of still being a great player in the ever competitive belgium league, Conceição has past his prime. Furthermore, I must protest to the attack on Figo. If there´s a player who´s given what he has and he doesn´t to the team, that man is Figo. Conceição gave a lot and showed excellent performances. Just look ate EC 2000. But since years he´s never been called to the NT. Figo is worse than Conceição today…? Figo left Real, where he was the first galáctico and ever sincer has been a pillar of Inter. Even with his age, just look at his performances with the NT.

After WC2002, no player that might at any given momment protest too much with the ref, or even punch him, should be sent to the playground and not to defend Portugal. Stupid excuses like “we were right” absolutelly don´t count at this level and if Portugal had actually been on higher flights more frequently, this would be obvious for everyone. Portugal deserved to have reached more in the past and didn´t.

We´ve had better players in the past – although maybe only some 9 in 23. Now we have a team of 23. For the better or for the worse, these are MY 23 from now on. I feel we should all embrace them, cos they are the ones who wil fight for our collours, our spirit, our identity and our flag.

I’m with Pedro.

These 23 are our guys come hell or high water. They are wearing our flag and deserve 110% of our support if we want them to give 110% on the pitch. This group have more than enough skill, talent and grit to get the job done.

The choices have been made this is the team that will write history for Portugal and place us in the elite of the football world were we belong. With our support anything can be accomplished.

Forca Portugal!!!!

Quaresma out :’( , anyway good roster, I only feel sorry because of Jorge Andrade, he cant play, injured. :\
I think Ricardo Rocha is a good choose to substitute Andrade.

figo threw a tantrum when he was substituted by scolari during euro. hmm, i dont understand figo. He sometimes thinks he is bigger than god. Also when he signed for two italian clubs at the same time. hmm I still dont understand him.

Anyways I agree with supporting the NT. Go portugal.

Bickering over Quaresma aside, we have a quality team who I believe is as hungry as ever to prove that we are not only competent, but contenders for the Cup. We are certainly better than the side that disgraced the Portuguese in front of a global audience 4 years ago. We’ve come along way, baby.

Just make us proud, boys. Força Portugal!!!

cESAR lourenço (and the rest)
the “list” of players was already known lasta week because there was a leek to the press.
made to hurt scolari and the image of portugal as a team.
As to pinto da costa he started on rampage ,last week stating that withour quaresma and baia portugal would be ,surely , world champion. and sinc ei´m in portugal and the majoraty of are not, let me inform you that in press foruns ,and radio debats a massive number os porto supportes are floading the airwaves stating that “this” is noto theri team, and giving congratulations to the teams of angola,méxico, and iran, and saying all sorts of things regarding scolari and the players that he chose. in a word:desestabilizing…

First challenge: Angola!

Very physical (and this word means exactly that), in the two games played against Portugal, they were defeated by solid numbers (6-0 and 5-1). Last match even ended with only some 7 or of them in the pitch… And ours with a lot of bruses.

But this was 5 years ago and now they are at the same place as Portugal – it´s surelly not the same Angola from the past -so often desperatly tried to be and couldn´t.

First game is always the hardest. Stress, super pressure for the 3 poinst, performance anxiety, etc… We cannot afford any lack of concentration, or silly thoughts like “Angoila are weak”. They are not weak. They are the next step on the latter, from which we don´t want to fall.

Iran… Even minutes ago Scolari warned EVERYBODY ON NATIONAL TV: “I´ll show some videos of Iran and you tell me if they are weak”.

Mexico: “In better form since a long, long time. Maybe one of the biggest surprises of the WC”.

If the man who won the last WC says this, I´m not going to dispute it.

No matter what, there are no winners before the “last lap”.

FORÇA PORTUGAL!!!

Man… Can hardly wait for it all to start and to see Portugal, at least and if the gods favour us, reaching at least the last 8. We all deserve at least that and after groups, really anything can happen.

The Nuno Valente and Hélder Postiga issues where the drop of water for me, as far as FC Porto is concerned. Even yesterday, AGAIN, their suporters went to Lisbon (for the cup final) and at half time dedicated to destroy the chairs and start riots…

FC Porto should be ashamed. They did nothing than undermine the NT from the start, just because half the team isn´t from FC Porto anymore, just because Scolari doesn´t kiss Pinto da Costa´s ass… What do these guys have for brains…??? AND PATRIOTISM!!!

I can hardly wait also. I’m only concerned about the Champions league game and hoping Deco doesn’t pick up any injuries or knocks.. Lets all cross our fingers…

Well said Pedro. There are no weak teams at the WC only opponents who have to be beaten. We don’t want to see another USA fiasco!

I’m actually happy that Angola will be our first opponent. A good result there will go a long way to setting the tone for the team and Tournement in gerneral..

Im looking forward to the Angola v Portugal match. I can tell that it will be a great match! I saw the last match between both teams and I have to say that the refereing was over the top. The first red card led to the second and the second to the third. I am sure that the WC encounter will be a much better game. Dont expect another thrashing though… They will be playing with eleven men this time + their squad has improved dramatically.

Anybody know who the officials for the PT/Angola game will be and what their reputations are if any??

Plus what is the ruling as far cards going to be in this WC? Will the card slate be wiped clean going into the knock-out stages?

Is anybody else extremely disappointed that Quaresma was left off the team? He is our most explosive player after Ronaldo. I know we have a lot of wingers already, but he should have been taken over Boa Morte. He is much better, and a far more dangerous player. He’s our second best winger right now, I just can’t believe he wasn’t taken.

Besides that I was wondering who you all think he will play in the back 4??? My guess is Carvalho, Meira, Miguel and Ferreira…sounds good to everybody else???

Well even without Quaresma I am 100% behind the squad. This is our year, Pauleta for the Golden Boot and Portugal for the Cup!

Hi Kiko! I´d like to see Angola go through together with Portugal.

I think it was a bit more than an exagerate referee in the last match. However, past is past, and Angola´s team has evolved so, so much. The best evidence is that you´re there.

One thing Portugal and Angola´s teams have in commun: Angola´s coach, together with Scolari, broke some of the old and nasty habits from the past. At least, I hurde it on TV (just a short while ago, from a comentator), that´s what Angola´s coach said. I guess everybody agrees that the man is doing one hell of a job for Angola. As a Portugal fan, I agree the same happened with Scolari (no slopiness in practice, no “holy cows”, no players being taken because of the public but because of having studied the lesson, etc). All this put together led to a higher level os prefessionalism, which ended up with the qualification of both teams.

I expect no favours or easy ride´s from Angola. Nor anybody else. I´d be stupid to think the other cats aren´t after the same…

FORÇA PORTUGAL!!!

Hi Pedro! I will support Portugal as well as Angola in the World cup. I was disappointed last time when Portugal failed to make the second round. It was fustrating. This time it will be different though (the team has a new attitude and a good coach!!!) and hopefully we will watch a very nice game between Portugal and Angola. GOOD LUCK!!!

Its sad to know that our best goalie is Ricardo. As for Quim he didnt even play after Benfica got Moretto, and Bruno Vale? Isn’t he the one who kicked the ball in his own net? Where’s Paulo Santos?? he shud be atleast the backup goalie, and i dont care how old Vitor Baia is becuz hes still a good goalie! And ya Quaresma shud have made the team, but i guess he will just have 2 win the under 21 for us. If Portugal had a better goalie they would be highly favoured to win the Cup.
