Queiroz: Ronaldo Can Become World’s Best

Even after a less than stellar year at Manchester United, Portugal’s Christian Ronaldo is poised to become one of the world’s best footballers, at least if you believe the opinions of Man U assistant coach Carlos Queiroz.

“It hasn’t been a very easy season for him due to some circumstances which affected him,” Queiroz said in an interview with Portuguese news radio TSF. “But bit by bit, with persistence and perseverance we can make Cristiano perform at the level which everyone expects of him and which above all match his own ambitions.

“We believe that in a short amount of time Cristiano can be a serious candidate to be elected the world’s best player.”

Anyone who has watched Ronaldo play can see he has a world of talent. From his patented crossover moves to his deadly free kicks, the kid definitely has game….sometimes. Consistency has been his big bugaboo and until he brings it every night I will have to think that Mr. Queiroz’s predictions won’t come true.

Portugal fans will, of course, be delighted when I am proven wrong.
