For me it's not even close. 1) WC 2) Euro 3) CL 4) League.
And there is a massive difference between each. WC brings in world wide audience, even in North America where soccer is 4th or 5th on the totem pole, everyone suddenly turns to watching soccer. It only happens every 4 years. And to a small country like Portugal, a WC win would be even more unbelievable and joyous!

WC, Euro

Easy and I agree with Chris. It seems to be so much more difficult to win the WC and Euro. Just look at the very very short list of nations who have had the luck of having won them.

And I always support Greg except in his choice of PL teams and Superliga teams, but everything else. haha

I can honestly say I have never experienced anything in sport like watching my team hoist the world cup trophy, surrounded by family in madness, hugging and kissing each other as though we played some part in the capture. It didn't even come close to watching my beloved Sox take down the curse in '04.

Champions League happens once a year and can be bought. A World Cup Trophy has to be bred. There is nothing in the world like it. Not even on the same planet for me.

Also, I support Greg.

Natalia, while Chelsea is my club, I'm Portuguese and therefore support Portugal. I could do with another England - Portugal shootout though, those are always quality. I can see how you might have thought that since I support Chelsea that I'm also an England supporter. I made the mistake of not clarifying "obvious" which referred to the fact that I'm the Portugal blogger, not that I'm a Chelsea supporter.

Greg, to me it´s fairly simple:
1) World Cup; 2) Euro Cup; 3) Champs, 4) Domestic league

There´s nothing like the national team, the anthem, etc... It´s still one of the very little things you still see, where difference is appreciated. Different countries, different styles and philosofies of playing and all the richness that comes with it, together with the pride of defending your own colours. Theorically also same chances of winning, which isn´t necessarily 100% true.

At club level, for countries other than Spain, Italy and England, the domestic league almost became some sort of champs league qualifiers, but then again, the teams that actually get to win are teams that are already represented by players from all over. At a given momment Arsenal didn´t even have a single english player - NOW people (mainly in ENG) are starting to think twice about these matters.

So it´s, to a certain sense, their own soul that´s being lost. Meaning that before, there was something called "swet your jersey". Now it´s "swet your jersey to get payed".

But it´s all just a consequence of how the world is evolving. Soon, people will realize again that clubs, just like countries, do have a soul of their own. It´s not just business...

I think that the most important trophies are the Euro and World Cup, but since they aren't held as often and have such a long qualifying process, it's much simpler just to follow your favorite club team throughout the year. However, I think when this summer rolls around with the Euro and 2010 in South Africa, you won't be singing the same tune when you get to watch Super Franky Lampard shooting a Super Shot over the Super Woodwork like last World Cup = )
