Ronaldo to remain a Red Devil
We can put all the speculation to rest now. Cristiano Ronaldo has, once again, demonstrated that he’s mature beyond his years by extending his contract with Manchester United until 2012. I’m still trying to dig up the exact final figure, but there are estimates that he may be worth close to $107 million.
Ronaldo could be successful at any club, but making a switch now that he has conquered the EPL and the fans at Old Trafford after the fallout following last year’s World Cup, would be a major mistake. He has a fabulous coaching staff around him and arguably the most dedicated fans in the game packing stadiums week after week just to watch him play.
He’s been the lead actor at the “theater of dreams” for a while now and this signing officially gives him top billing. Congratulations “puto” you deserve it. All of Portugal stands with you in your pursuit of future glories. And a special congrats to United fans for securing the most remarkable talent to hit the game since Ronaldinho.

I use to not like Ronaldo now, but now I do. I think he’s a fantastic player.

Excellent news and well put Luis!
As much as I would like to see Mourinho win CL with Chelsea, my heart wishes ManU a treble to cap the amazing season Ronaldo has had. That would be fantastic!

Off topic, but impressing:
Figo was declared Sky Italia’s man of the match again after Inter’s 2-2 draw in Milan.
I always kept talking about his worth for any team, and I’m really glad that he manages to attract attention now before leaving the club in summer.
He prepared both Inter goals and even hit the target himself, but was flagged offside. It would have been his first goal since August.

There’s no stopping Figo. Impressive at his advanced football age.

Well it is official CR is nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award in England. I personally think that Carvalho might also have warranted at least a nomination as he held together the Chelsea back line when it was on the verge of falling apart and totally derailing their season but I guess defenders tend to be overlooked. In any case CR fully deserves not only the nomination but also to win the trophy. Congrats to him and to all other Portuguese players across the continent who made (and will continue to make) us proud this season!

Wow, Poland and Ukraine. Great for them, but hope they are ready to handle it. Then again many said Portugal would not be a good host.

Congratulations to the NT who have moved up a spot to 7th in the FIFA World Rankings, ahead of England and Spain! The ranking system is somewhat suspect but it is still nice to see Portugal so rightly recognized as one of the best teams in the world.
The Top ten are:
1. Italy
2. Argentina
3. Brazil
4. France
5. Germany
6. Netherlands
7. Portugal
8. England
9. Spain
10.Czech Republic
