Hisham - you can watch excellent EPL coverage on Fox Soccer Channel.

www.foxsoccer.com

They are carried by Dish Network and most major cable companies. Fox Sports World Report is an hour long football news program that will covers all the major leagues and competitions. If you can't catch every game then this program will keep you up to date.

You can catch limited coverage of the Champion's League on ESPN2. They usually cover the end of the group stage and the knockout phase of the competition. Again, they are carried by most satellite and cable providers.

you live in the US, am I correct?

I go to college there and am heading bck today... I was wondering if there is any channel in the US that broadcasts the euro qualifiers, and also the EPL or Champions league.

thanks in advance

Nick - this is a list of the Euro qualifiers.

http://portugal.worldcupblog.org/euro-2008/looking-ahead-euro-2008.html

Friendlies are usually scheduled between breaks and the dates are often released with shorter notice. RTPi broadcasts all PT national team games. You can update yourself from time to time on broadcast times at www.rtp.pt

Carlos Martins is (was) a very inconstant player, or has been, but also very much afflicted by injuries. Currently, he's one of my favourites in the Sporting CP squad. Often he's the attack starter, leaves everything on the pitch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X1hROtTfZM

(something we all know Scolari loves having) and has "a canon"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3wTyVkox9Q

for distance shots. He has played for the NT in all ages, except the big one. Last year with Sporting CP he became more of a constant player. But still everybody could feel there's more to come. Hope this is his year, both with Sporting as well as the NT.

Joao Moutinho, (here in action with Nani in the U21)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoKU4S26lPc

still at 19, is already the pillar on which Sporting Lisbon suports and already is second captain of the team.

The call for Hugo Almeida

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7THW3Ut3a8&mode=related&search=

is very interesting, but expected since Pauleta is gone. Even if just to see how does our U21 striker manage with the big guys. He is quite bulky himself, so the type of striker that can physically wear down defenders.

Caneira not there and Miguel injured + the "classic" defensive duo, wouldn't be surprised if R Rocha and/or R Costa are (also) there to be tested as full-back subsitutes. R Rocha plays wherever in Benfica's defense... R Costa, if I'm not mistaken, plays both centre back as well as right back.

ps - SL Benfica beat Austria 3-0 yesterday, qualifying for the group stage of the Champs. This means, this year and for the first time ever, Portugal has now 3 teams in the Champions League! FORCA PORTUGAL!

[...] It must be an exciting moment when a football player is called up to play for his country. We wonder how that all works. Do they actually get a phone call from the coach or do they read it on the Web like us? Maybe one of these days we’ll talk to someone who has been called up and get the lowdown. Until then, you can check out the names of the guys who will be representing Sweden, Poland and Portugal during Euro 2008 qualifying the first week of September.
