Scolari’s Italian holiday

November 22nd, 2006 | By: Luis | 8 Comments »

ScolariNow that qualifiers are over until next year, Big Phil Scolari is doing a little public relations work. This time around, he’s feeling romantic about a move to Italy and some of that “dolce vita”. The Italian sports journal, Corriere dello Sport, published an interview with the former World Cup champion, where Scolari expressed interest in possibly managing, in Italy, after Euro 2008.

In the same interview, Scolari claimed that Nani could be Figo’s eventual heir. “Should he continue growing as he has until now, Nani could be Figo’s heir. Even if I won’t forget Cristiano Ronaldo, but he has a different personality to Figo,” Scolari explained.

I think that’s pretty accurate. Ronaldo certainly has a very different game and may deserve his own category by the time his career is over. One obvious comparison between Nani and Figo is their ability to play as effortlessly in midfield as they do on the wings. As for leadership, we just have to wait and see.

In other news, Portugal is up one to 8th in the most recent FIFA rankings. England and the Netherlands continue to be 5th and 7th - two teams that Portugal eliminated in Euro 2004 and World Cup 2006.

Hey Luis, It is hilarious when Pedro P sends in videos and sometimes they are really pathetic but it does not matter you will still say “great video Pedro”. You are like a robot. What gives?

I said great videos because they are classics. I’m impressed those videos can even be found on Youtube considering how old they are. I don’t know about you, but I’m dying from laughter after seeing Figo’s mullet.

Agreed with Luis. Pedro P has a knack of posting some great video’s…especially those old ones. We get to see the style of play back then, really different than tody…don’t you think?

Yeah, peole had some bad hair during the golden generation, but I thing Figo takes the cake.

I don’t mind people who are critical, but after all it could be possible that you and Luis / Pedro have different opinions about good and “pathetic” videos.
Most things that have to do with Portugal are somehow interesting - and others not.
I’d rather see no video than one with Klose or Schweinsteiger (Luis - I don’t want to allege that you don’t like watching Portuguese players)!
