Team of Tomorrow Tuesday: Bruno Gama

April 1st, 2008 | By: Greg | 5 Comments »

bgamaI know I’ve been covering the Under or “Sub” 21 team already in various ways, but I think a nice discussion/thought provoking/glimpse of the future feature would be nice, so here it is. Every Tuesday (within reason, we can always run out of these things eventually) I’ll be posting a young Portuguesian’s name and picture and some YouTubeage of their skills. Then you can view, think, and then decide what you feel about them, based on the limited footage I’ve supplied (or hey, maybe you’ve seen them in more extended action, in which case, great!). We will call this fantastic idea “Team of Tomorrow Tuesday!” Enjoy.

Since he is my present young gentleman crush, Bruno Gama gets to start off the festivities. He’s currently on loan at Vitora Setubal in the Portuguese BWINLiga where he is in the Starting XI and plays somewhere between and including a striker / advanced winger. He has already earned accolades as the captain of a few of the Under [insert age here] National teams and participated in a number of international tournaments with them. He is currently on the U21 team. He started and played the first half of the match against Bulgaria last week.

I love his game, as he’s a proven leader and has a seemingly never ending motor. He doesn’t look for the foul first when advancing forward and plays like the entire other team burned his house down then killed his puppy. I enjoy watching him play and his attitude when he takes the pitch. Here’s a few highlights from the YouToobles…

If you can find a Portuga football highlight video WITHOUT someone mouthing filha da puta, I’ll be shocked.

Dunno much about Bruno Gama, but it seems he´s doing alright… I´d put my money in Bruno Pereirinha and Adrien Silva, both playing for Sporting now. Actually, dunno if they´ll play tomorrow but Pereirinha made a hell of a game against Bolton and scored on the 84th too…

Perreirinha is less flash then Bruno Gama, very good player as well.
Bruno Gama I saw live here in Toronto, the kid is most definitely talented and he seems to have his head screwed on pretty straight. Especially compared to Coentrao who was on that same U20 World Cup team.

Players to watch out for Pele, Helder Barbosa, Vierinha, Antunes, Machado and Joao Moreira doesn’t look to bad either.
