Luis, you’re gonna die of exhaustion in this battle, in the name of Portugal’s good name and reputation… :-)

goose – lets see, the entire point of your comment was “Ronaldo is a pu**y and the dutch fans do hate Portugal”. See I posted it for you, now you don’t have to bore us with your nonsense any more. Mine was a lot shorter and to the point. Can you see why I deleted it?

The backlash to the backlash. Fergie and Ronaldo fight back.

Well Ronaldo seems to be getting some better press today after his performance against Benfica. Congrats to Man U but it is too bad that it could not have been Benfica and Man U going through from that group, however as a Man U fan I can’t complain too much! Congrats also to Porto, and GO Benfica in the UEFA Cup!

While we were ranting about C Ronaldo, he just helped Man Utd wipe SL Benfica’s *ss, yesterday evening… ;-)

http://www.ojogo.pt/22-289/artigo596682.htm

BUT… Apparently, our friend mr Ricardo Rocha has overheard all the rumours about Pepe joining the Seleccao Nacional, and has been putting a series of – according to the press – brilliant displays, which already secured his place in Benfica’s back 2, next to Luisao…

Ricard Rocha was all over the place yesterday. An impressive display indeed. Just wondering if it’s a case of too little too late as far as Scolari is concerned. If he keeps this form, I think he deserves another call up.

Emilio Peixe, former Sporting (and FC Porto) player (remember him, from the golden generation, once upon a time…) over Joao Moutinho:

“At 20 you’re usually a hope, J Moutinho is already a certainty”.

J Moutinho, one of our youngest and brightest stars has been playing non-stop, for the last 5000 minutes… :-) A guy of who Scolari says “the kid runs 300 kms/match”…

And, apparently, according to Rooney, “what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger…” :-)

There’s a clip about goal keepers, somewhere in the blog. And this reminded me of mr Vitor Baia, a guy who’s been, slowly and with time, a bit washed down the memory…

Of course, the whole thing cracked when Scolari moved in. Scolari came in, and this guy never played for the Seleccao again… Scolari never commented and I think it was just one of the first sparks between him and FC Porto. Notice that like Baia, Scolari also dropped JV Pinto, although the reasons in this case, although also never commented, seemed slightly easyer to understand. JVPinto, one way or the other, appeared to be on the wrong place at the wrong time too often…

So a lot of fans never forgave Scolari for dropping Baia out. Especially cos this guy doesn’t have just any CV… His is really impressive and he WAS really good…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C3%ADtor_Ba%C3%ADa

But Scolari’s is no less impressive…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luiz_Felipe_Scolari

On a personal level, I truelly believe that the reason was simple: if ever push would come to shove, no matter the love Vitor Baia has for the Seleccao, his love for FC Porto is even bigger…

Pedro – isn’t that sweet to see Ronaldo and Rooney getting along so well. :-P

The goalie thing has become such a non issue. I was a bit critical of Ricardo during the WC qualifiers, but he has since proven that he is more then capable of keeping his starting spot in the national team. With all the folklore around him now, it would be tough to see anyone else in the goal for Portugal.
