Queiroz banned for 6 months

Carlos QueirozDue to his inappropriate use of language towards the Portuguese Anti-doping Agency’s “hit squad” last May at Covilhã, as the Selecção prepared for the world-cup, the Portuguese Soccer Federation slapped Queiroz on the wrist as they gave him a one month ban. Said agency handed Queiroz’s head on a silver platter to the federation but the lack of balls or an odd complicity saw what must have been one of the stupidest convictions in Portuguese soccer history. The one month ban. Result: Neon flashing “I’m a frickin Moron” sign on top of Gilberto Madail and the rest of his board of directors heads. They apparently can’t see it but the rest of us are obfuscated by it. Oh and the assistant coach Agostinho Oliveira is at the helm for the first two matches of the qualifiers. FFS!!!

You would think the matter ended here. Far from it. The inquisition mounted to burn Queiroz at the stake went in for the kill. The process was called in to be judged by the aforementioned agency and backed-up by Portuguese law they handed out a 6 month ban today. The odd thing is the law contemplates a minimum ban of 2 years going up to 4. Mitigating factors apparently justify the 6 months. Yeah right. The simple fact of the matter is they once again nail CQ’s head to the platter and try and force Gilberto Madail and his mates to fire Queiroz. If they succeed all is well. If they don’t… CQ gets back in time to finish the qualifiers and get the blame in case we don’t qualify. These guys are all Satan worshipers I tell you!

Oh and Queiroz will appeal the decision, taking his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

I have the perfect solution: the entire board of directors at the FPF resign, Queiroz follows suit. New board. New coach. The end.

Regardless of one’s opinion on Queiroz, this whole ordeal is just plain embarassing for Portuguese soccer. I agree with your idea of a full out revamp of the BOD and the coaching staff. Thankfully this is happening after the WC and not during the WC or we’d be just like France we their idiocy.

This whole process is a mess. If they didn’t have the guts to quit, then they should have at least just fined CQ and leave on with that. We can do nothing, unfortunately, with their millions they could care less about the fans. Imagine if comments were allowed in the FPF’s site!
I can see us getting a bad start in the campaign, as usual. Even Italy had to recover from two-goals deficit against Cyprus at home. This time I’ll lose hope in having any actual success in the tournament (should we qualify) if we don’t beat Norway or Denmark BOTH at least once.
This whole thing will surely affect the players, remember, my predictions are optimistic:
Portugal 2-0 Cyprus
Norway 1-1 Portugal
Portugal 2-1 Denmark (finally!)
Iceland 1-1 Portugal

When I saw this story I was hoping Queiroz was banned for failing a doping test which would have been infinitely more amusing.

Terrible…I also agree with a whole new board and with that a new coach, but who?

Ivan, your predictions seem to show Portugal a bit leaky in defence. I doubt they will conced 3 goals in 4 games for some reason. I see this

Por 3-0 Cyp
Nor 0-0 Por
Por 2-1 Den
Ice 0-1 Por

Because of the club football. They agreed that playing on Friday instead of Saturday will give players time to rest.

Thanks to the upcoming World Basketball Festival, we now get a “USA” Air Jordan 2010 Team. It seems as if more people like the Air Jordan 2010 Team than the original Air Jordan 2010 because of the windowless side panels. I’m not one of those people who likes the team better; I think the original
Nike Shoes 2010 Shoes looks much better.Since this jordan Shoes Team is made for the USA team, the colorway should be clear. White can be seen on the side panels, toe, shoe laces, tongue, part of the midsole and the entire outsole. Navy blue covers the toe, heel, inner lining and above the midsole. Red accents appear on the tongue, toe, heel, lace panels and the midsole. The sneaker is constructed of perforated white leather with larger perforations placed on the side panels.
