16 mins: Portugal pick it up now and after a wasted corner Luis Figo drives in a low shot from distance. He stays down after colliding with Patrick Vieira in the follow through. The break affords Raymond Domenech to have a few words with Thierry Henry on the touchline. Immediately after being stretchered off Figo jumps back to his feet and jogs back on.

Of course he jumps back….a proof that again he was badly hurt. Oscar for acting?

33 mins: GOAL Goalkeeper Ricardo said God was Portuguese after his heroics against England in the shoot-out. He gets a hand to Zidane’s effort but cannot keep it out.

32 mins: Penalty for France. Thierry Henry turns inside on the edge of the area and is caught by Ricardo Carvalho. Zinedine Zidane steps up for the spot-kick.

30 mins: Cristiano Ronaldo goes down near the dug out and the French coach gives the international sign for diving.
Oscar nomination!

Preview (Semis): France vs Portugal

France is confident they can get to the finals with Zizou playing his usual game and his usual game happens to be an enormous defensive problem for opposing teams.

Zidane’s last game against Brazil proved his age together with Patrick Vieira i…

Ronaldo’s acting update:

36 mins: Portugal’s players and fans protest as a penalty claim falls on deaf ears. Cristiano Ronaldo climbs high to get on the end of Luis Figo’s cross but falls to the ground. A good decision by the referee despite the close attention afforded Ronaldo by Willy Sagnol.

38 mins: Replays show that Ronaldo fell desperately theatrically when he was looking for that penalty a moment ago

39 mins: The jeers seem to be firing up Cristiano Ronaldo. His direct run at goal from halfway ends in a corner but nothing comes from it.

COPPERAS is a very proud brit not a sardine eating canuck eh! Kelvin is that a name or a scientific term?

Latest news for drama school:

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty claim was a dive straight away. He flings himself forward.”
Alan Shearer, BBC Sport TV

57 mins: Miguel’s run forward comes to an end when he crumples in a heap. Pauleta appeals forcefully for a free-kick but France play on believing he dived before William Gallas opts to clear. After treatment the full-back returns to the fray.

Looks good for Portugal in diving at the next Olympics!

Olympic diving trial

66 mins: What’s going on? This match is falling apart at the seams and getting pretty dull. There’s little structure, France look happy to sit on the lead and Pauleta takes a dive.

Looks like Pauleta makes the team

diving team continues to improve:

76 mins: Simao does well on the left and gets a low cross in. Embarrassingly for Portugal, both Ronaldo and Postiga fling themselves to the ground looking for penalties. Neither is remotely convincing and Postiga in particular should have been booked for that. Outrageous.

Its now or never said Luis….let the show begin!

Luis when does the show start….all we saw was same old same old playacting and I told you if you did that you would lose!

Unfortunately the Emperor had no clothes…..or perhaps only for acting.

Glad to see this team exposed….

Signing off now and going to “dive” into the pool

By the way Ronaldo….diver of the match and new captain of the olympic diving team

the english newsmen are really criticising portugal saying that they have really poor players and only postiga is good whereas everyone else is just diving.
what a bunch of sore losers.
it’s unfortunate that portugal lost. i cant believe scolari lost. I still say portugal was definitely better.

Congratulations, France!! Not as good a game as the one with Brazil but as Serb said, you conserved your energy. And you know a team is diving and faking fouls far too much when even American commentators start mentioning it. Usually they’re pretty polite and overly complementary – this time even they got sick of Portugal’s antics.

whoever you are, you are disgusting and disgraceful. I don’t know how anyone puts up with you. This blog was created to bring the love of football to discussion. You love talking trash and you love getting it back so that you can do it all ovr again eh? You feel so brave over the internet? Try saying stuff rite to sumone’s face. You’ll end up with a pretty set of black eyes.
