Neo-nazis and Iranian president bust up Frankfurt party

Just when we thought we’d seen it all. An article, in the Portuguese sports daily O Record, reports that a request by the Portuguese immigrant community in Frankfurt, to stage a rally outside the stadium where Portugal and Iran will face off on June 17, has been denied by FIFA. The organizers of the event had hoped to welcome team Portugal in the usual manner, with a human chain of fans and well wishers leading up to the stadium entrance.

“We contacted the city government and local police, who in turn notified FIFA. We were told that our request had been denied and that no activities would be allowed around the stadium’s security perimeter on game day.” stated a representative of the Portuguese consul in Frankfurt.

Portugal – Iran is considered a ‘high risk’ fixture by the German security forces. Any group celebrations will have to take place in the city center, far from the stadium. The consul considered this option a non-starter. Apparently, a neo-nazi group will be holding a rally in support of Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the same time. Ahmadinejad has made some new friends among the neo-nazi set after down playing the extent of the holocaust in several speeches.

How lame!

I have an idea. Why don’t we round up all those neo-nazis and Ahmadinejad and let them party together on a small island in the Baltic Sea? They can sit around a roaring campfire and sing their favorite hate songs while the rest of us give them ‘the collective finger’ by showing up at the stadium to welcome both Iran and Portugal in style. The World Cup is all about the spirit of friendly competition and we’re not going to let these morons ruin our party. Forca Iran! Forca Portugal!

Sadly I think it’s because Iran’s president has said the he doesn’t believe the holocast actually happened. So the Neo skinheads figure (and I use that term very very loosely) that he’s a good guy like them..
Wish people would leave politics out of sport..

Just a quick note: Iranians are not Arabs. The majority of Iranians are Persians, namely of Indo-European descent. Portugese, being an Indo-European language, is closer to Persian than Persian is to Arabic in terms of grammar and vocabulary (Persian however began to use Arabic script after the Muslim invasions of Persia in the 7th century AD).

The word Aryan is a derivative of the Persian word Arya, which means “noble race” – the label the ancient Persians used to identity themselves. In fact, Iran means Land of the Aryans in Persian.

With that said, politics and demagoguery should go on hiatus between June 9th and July 9th.

The Baltic Sea? Nah, too close for comfort. How about Mars?

Portugal had a huge arabic influence around that time as well (it wasn’t called Portugal yet). Today, a lot of words both in portuguese and spanish (castillian) have that legacy. One of Portugal’s provinces – Algarve – has arabic origin. The arabic influence, just like the northern european people who invaded the peninsula before the arabs, had a critical influence in the social fabric of the country (to be).

Anyway, Iran (Persia) is Asia but it’s a muslim culture. Hence the association with the arabs. Actually, one in which religion is not independant of the state – therefore all these things with the president. Being muslim, it supports Palestine and not Israel. Being against Israel is a plus for a nazi (the enemy of my enemy is my friend)…

Note, Luke, that there’s nothing relating nazi, or fascist, national socialist, etc, movements AND Islam and the muslim world. Extremists are extremists, no matter their ideology.

No Pedro. That’s Persian. An Iranian weblog has introduced WorldCupBlog and shortly written about some of its posts, including this particular one. There’s actually no comment about the debate on Neo-Nazi, Ahmadinejad thing.

Firstly, can I say that Iran’s president speech about Israel and Holocaust has totally been taken out of context and deliberately misrepresented to the world in order to pave the way for another war in the Middle East. The propaganda is so strong that even myself, as an Iranian, believed the media without listening to his speech. Recently I came across a copy of his speech on the Iran’s presidency web site. Having red it, I then realised how his speech has been misquoted and deliberately mistranslated in order to create an anti Iranian atmosphere around the world. For example, in his speech he has never ever mentioned to “wipe out Israel from the map” as the world media and some politicians are telling us. His speech is against the Zionist regime in Israel and say, very clearly, that his fight is not with the people of Israel! Anyway, Neo Nazis are a bunch of brainless idiots who also believed the propaganda and due to their anti-emetic ideas, they are now supporting the president of Iran. I will be there in Frankfurt and will be celebrating with our Portuguese friends. We don’t want these neo-Nazis mob around and Iran has nothing to do with anti-Semitism or racism.

Well, Nazism is an ideology, need thinkers e more. I am Samaritan (Semit racial mixture). I think racism is an ideology, difficult fight with. I don´t care insult (it is common), but unployment, analfabetism, invaders and racial killers. People need say your expression. Here some people say: Say about me, bad, but say abou me.
