Party in Jamor

Record cover

Upon their arrival in Portugal, Scolari and team made their way to the national stadium for one last party. Despite the high temperatures, the stands were overflowing with fans wishing to show their gratitude. This will most likely be a final good-bye for players like Figo and Pauleta, but Scolari’s comments made it clear that the dream goes on and that the future is full of possibilities.

“We’re going to grow and improve. Who knows if, in the future, we’ll be here to bring you not the fourth place, but the second or first,” Scolari declared. Big Phil even hinted that he will most likely stay on as national team coach. He acknowledged that it is great to hear so many fans appealing for his continued presence as coach and that he will discuss matters with the FPF sometime this week. “I want to stay,” said Scolari.

“Portugal delight fans worldwide
They played, they scored and above all they entertained us. After enjoying the efforts of so many teams during the 64 matches of Germany 2006, take a look at how football fans across the world voted and find out where The Most Entertaining Team Award was won and lost.”

WE WON IT! :D

You have made the overseas portuguese community very proud -especially here in Canada.
If Nuno Gomes was playing instead of that stiff Pauletta we would of won the world cup.
Our future looks promising

We outplayed every team but had no finish. We’ll be a power for years to come.
P.S. Start a petition “Figo don’t leave”, we need your veteran leadership.

[...] After the loss against Germany, an ultra-effective team in their last game, no less than 10.000 portuguese awaited the national heroes. Some in the airport, other in the National Stadium, where the team went afterwards, but all singing and agitating thousands of green and red flags, in an ambiance that just, as you can see, couldn’t make Scolari indifferent.   [...]

I still don’t get why Scolari kept Nuno Gomes on the bench. He proved himself as a quality so many times, what a waste.

Obrigado Figo – te queremos!!
Portugal was great, I’m so mad that Figo didn’t play the whole match against Germany – everything would be diffrent with him – he’s the capitan, he brings his team hope.

Forca Portugal!
