Portugal is going up

April 19th, 2006 | By: Luis Paulo | 9 Comments »

Fifa released today its new ranking. As usual, nobody gets how it works but we can surely celebrate that Portugal has advanced 2 positions and now figures as 8th. Some of you might realize that Portugal didn’t play in the last 30 days but keep it quiet. I don’t think FIFA knows that. The next rank will be released at May, 17th and we’ll be going after Brazil.

I know the FIFA rankings are useless but boy I think a retarded house plant could do a better job of setting them!!!
USA ranked 4th!! Have they totally lost it?? Or is somebody getting paid a whole lot of money to make sure they are way up there??
Amazing….

To me, the worst is to see Serbia & Montenegro which finished the qualified ahead of Spain(5th) as 46th, behind Honduras who didn’t even got close to qualify.

As someone who has often been confused with a retarded house plant, I’d say the World Cup Blog power rankings are better. We don’t have Saudi Arabia 10 spots above Serbia and the US is not in the top 10.

I agree with Bob. The WC Blog power rankings are far more accurate.

I saw on the U.S. blog that a petition is started get an announcer change at ESPN. I was wondering if a petition could be sent to FIFA to hire that houseplant to do their ranking for them. Bob would you be open to a bribe, excuse me, a donation to your favorite charity to move a team up in the WC blog power ranking. Just throwing it out there.

Finally this blogsite is starting to reflect the real world. I knew I could count on you. My people will contact your people. Maybe FIFA should just rename it the FIFA Commercial Marketing Potential Ranking so we can get a better handle on it. I just saw the WC Official Beer ranking and sorry Bob Bud was still numero uno. By the way I heard of this fern over at the NHL offices that did a great job with the hockey playoff rankings, its possible FIFA can use it as a consultant.

[...] One month ago I said that Portugal was going to take the Brazilian’s place on the FIFA’s rank soon. While some of you were laughing at me, FIFA released its new rank: Portugal have improved one position while Brazil remains still. [...]
