Scolari: “I have no idea where to go after the World Cup”

To tell you the truth, I feel Scolari might still stay in Portugal. Might not be for long. He has a lot of critics in Portugal – still trying to understand why, myslef.

Anyway, we all know that there are very few cases of a coach staying long in the same spot. When he does, well, look at Sven…

Regardless of the result, I feel he’s (Scolari) doing a very goog job. He buid a team, mixed efficiently old and new blood without “traumas”, he adjusted still a lot to what I believe his original plans were back in 2003, he survived the fierce (and stupid) excessive criticism and he started chanelling the U21 team for what it should be for: the main secondary source of players for the AA’s. All this in a coherent and systematic and professional way.

PLUS… The guys I feel would be +/- up for the job aren’t as good as him and will never get the place. On the other side, we can count on Mourinho when he’s not wanted anywhere else…

Basicly, what I mean is: FICA FELIPAO!!!

Stay Felipao! Just until Mourinho is ready to move on. I can’t think of any other capable replacement. I think if Scolari leaves, it will set the team back a couple of years.

We know that we potentially have two main problems at the moment : how to substitute Jorge Andrade and Costinha ? In case Scolari put for instance Fernando Meira and Petit or Tiago, the coordination will be as good as before ? (I mean as we say in Brazil the famous “entrosamento”).

Nelson, Meira won’t have a problem. He played a lot during the qualifies. But to replace Costinha it surely won’t be the same. He played for some years with Maniche and Deco and it work out just fine. However this is not the most important thing in a team. Petit have experience in his national team and quality enough to replace him.

The way I see it, Hugo Viana is actually the only with “playmaker” abilities, to substitute Deco.

If that’s what we need, in the case of a substitution – more than an effective mmidfield with, e.g., Tiago Maniche Petit, or Maniche Tiago and Moutinho – I don’t know. Although he’s more than good enough, the question is can his presence make the difference.

We do not have any compitent replacement yet (assuming Mourihino isn’t ready yet).
The donkeys we had before will try again and as mentioned before, that will set us back centuries. We’d have a hard time qualifying…
