Were you pre-capped?

May 4th, 2006 | By: Luis Paulo | 12 Comments »

It seems like a lot of players were pre-capped today by Luiz Felipe Scolari. Just a few hours after Pedro Mendes, Alex, the former Benfica’s defender that now plays for Wolfsburg, received a call from the Portuguese coach.

What most amazes me, is that neither of them were being capped lately. Alex, who was capped 3 times before, hasn’t been on the roster since September, 2005. So, let’s make a bet about who will be next.

I think Scolari will “pre-cap” the Easter bunny next. He’s very quick with excellent hopping skills and almost impossible to catch in the open. With his recent excellent form during the Easter season, he should be in top physical shape.

Funny thing is, Scolari being so up tight with this type of stuff, how come the players are already saying these things to the press…?

I’m not so worried with the defender to come… I’m ever SO curious to see which midfielder is the guy call at the end… I believe Costinha will go, as well as Petit, Maniche, Deco and Tiago. Which means there’s only one spot left there (unless only 3 wingers go + one versatile midfielder)…

And as far as I’ve understood mr Scolari’s mentality, he’ll want to bring substitues that can fit ANY type of game, with no matter who is already on the pitch. So, a substitute is not exclusivelly a piece-replacing-piece.

Does the Easter Bunny have a nickname?? Maybe “Nanny” or something? And is he a diver or will the quality of the grass on the pitch effect his play?? :-)

He’s excellent in mid field play but like some of our other players, he has a hard time finishing. He insists on stopping when he gets to the 6 yard box to chew grass. I guess that makes him a diver.

If I had to bet, I would bet on Scolari “pre-capping” Sergio Conceicao.

I still think the Easter bunny is much, much better than Sergio Conceicao…

He was suspended for 4 months. He might get back in August.
