Quinta-Feira Question Time: Queremos Queiroz?

July 3rd, 2008 | By: Greg | 3 Comments »

Apparently on the verge of signing up to become the new national team boss, Carlos Queiroz is largely an unproven commodity. He did wonders with the “Golden Generation” in winning two World Youth Championships and has looked like a good Portuguese League talent consiglieri for Sir Alex at Manchester United.

However, his stint at Real Madrid during 2003 & 04 with Zidane and Co. only yielded two Super Cups. He seems to be a great supporting cast member but the spotlight has either eluded him or shone so brightly that he’s yielded mediocre results. So, we stand to go from a World Cup winner to a Spanish Super Cup winner? Yikes.

Excited? Disappointed? Are we better off, worse off, or basically the same? Paper or plastic?

Well I can’t say I’m happy with hum but considering the other rumoured coaches (Zico and Pekerman) I can’t see which one would be better. Its a shame that all the good coaches are taken.

I still wanted Rijkard over the others. Wishful thinking on my part.

Scolari was overrated. I’m glad he’s gone.
