Match Preview: Liechtenstein vs Portugal – Friendly

August, 12, 2009
Rheinpark Stadion, Vaduz, Liechtenstein
20:30 Vaduz; 19:30 Lisbon, London; 14:30 New York
With the do-or-die matches against Denmark and Hungary less then a month away we prepare ourselves with the Liechtenstein National team today.
Carlos Queiroz recons these lads will get a smile back on our faces:
Goal-keepers:
Beto (Porto)
Eduardo (Braga)
Moreira (Benfica)
Defense:
Bosingwa (Chelsea)
Bruno Alves (Porto)
Miguel (Valencia)
Pepe (Real Madrid)
Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea)
Rolando (Porto)
Midfield:
Duda (Sevilha)
Eliseu (Lazio)
Raúl Meireles (Porto)
Tiago (Juventus)
Deco (Chelsea)
Offense:
Hugo Almeida (Werder Bremen)
Nani (Manchester United)
Simão (Atletico Madrid)
Cristiano Ronaldo has flu and got replaced by Eliseu at the last minute.
I’m disappointed not to see Maniche in there but can’t say I’m surprised.
Liedson has still to receive his Portuguese ID so he wasn’t called but there are strong rumors he will get the call for the matches against Denmark and Hungary. Curiously he hasn’t scored a single goal for Sporting since the 2-0 win against Maritimo on the 16th of May!
Due to an unusual work-load (hence only posting on the day of the match) it seems very unlikely I’ll get the time to watch the game. To make things even worse I can’t even record it… bugger.
Well lets hope Portugal gets a couple in the back of the net but most of all lets hope they produce a convincing performance!
FORÇA PORTUGAL!!!!

You’ll also probably miss out on 2014,2018,2022 etc..

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesss!!

Hi dutchies.
PT is soo bad that NL doesn´t seem to be able to beat us since, what, 1991… I know it hurts, but hey, you like it… Maniche is always pleased to make you happy…

hahahha you could forget this story for the worldcup 2010 because you simply will not be there where the dutch will be crowned champions!!!
see you on july 2010!!!! hahaha

Even less likely than our (PT) presence in SA, is a dutch victory there…
But if we do meet, PT won´t even need to do anything. You´ll (NL) just wet your pants, as usual, try to look big, bad and ugly like in 06, then try to blame us, then will blame the ref and will still go home empty handed with emotional scars…
It´s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch%E2%80%93Portuguese_War all over again…
This war occurred mostly throughout the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th centuries. It opposed primarily the polity of Portugal and that of the Netherlands. The Dutch republic is regarded generally as the aggressor since its attack on the Portuguese colonial possessions was by all means unilateral and the initiative of the war was always on the Dutch side. The Dutch felt that it was easier to try to parasite the Portuguese empire rather than build their own presence from scratch.
